Michael Burd first appeared with David Mallett in 1981, The following year he contributed several fretless bass tracks to the “Open Doors & Windows” recording.  He toured extensively with Mallett throughout the 1980′s. Since reuniting with Mallett in 1997 for the live “Parallel Lives” album, he has been a regular presence at Mallett concerts throughout the Northeast and in England. In addition, he enjoys performing with numerous area bands covering virtually all styles of music from blues and R&B to jazz.

In 2005, he debuted an innovative Ned Steinberger electric upright bass, and in 2006 introduced a new full-size La Scala acoustic bass  to the show.

Mike is a long-time resident of the Western Mountains area of Maine and enjoys hearing the stories of all the engaging folks he meets in his travels….

Susan Ramsey, Violin & Viola

Susan Ramsey, “the Fiddlin’ Wood Sprite”, began playing violin and viola with Dave Mallett in 2003.  Her first recording with Mallett was “Artist In Me”.  She primarily performs with the Mallett band on concert dates in the State of Maine.

A resident of the Moosehead Lake region of Maine, Susan teaches violin and also plays with various acoustic-based bands, blending musical styles from classical and jazz to Finnish folk tunes!

Tom Gordon, Sound

Tom Gordon has been David Mallett’s sound man since 1993.  A native of Skowhegan, Maine, he had a 20-year career protecting water quality in the Winthrop Lakes region of Maine. He served as President of the North American Lake Management Society in 1981-82. In 1991, he started AV Portland Sound & Audiovisual Services www.avportland.com in Portland, Maine, which provides audiovisual rental and production services, and concert sound reinforcement.

He has provided sound mixing for numerous acoustic musicians, including Jonathan Edwards, Richie Havens, Arlo Guthrie, Odetta, Carol Noonan, Sol Y Canto, Cheryl Wheeler, Patty Larkin, Bill Morrissey, and Minnie Others.  His “quiet sound” is a hallmark of Mallett concerts.  He also handles Mallett music merchandising and internet services.

Tom has renewed his environmental activities as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors for the Cumberland County Soil & Water Conservation District and through his studies in ecopsychology and pastoral counseling at Cherry Hill Seminary.  He also serves as Executive Director of the Maine Association of Conservation Districts.
